The Cleveland office of Oliver Design Group was opened in 1983 under the direction of Principal-in-Charge, William T. Eberhard AIA, IIDA, and Principals, John G. Tellaisha AIA, IIDA and Linda W. Bayer. The three founders continue to work to maintain a top quality organization devoted to blending both the disciplines of architecture and interior design in innovative design responses that consider all elements of the built environment. This is an approach unique to Oliver Design Group in the organization and philosophy of the firm - and set a trend in the local market place for the delivery of professional design services.
Client-focused and business-based, ODG digs deeper to determine all relevant client requirements, including
not just program, but culture, recruitment/ retention objectives, budgetary constraints, site limitations,
timing objectives and strategic outcomes. Out of this context, ODG’s people relate to clients as people to
determine relevant design criteria, from which inspiration for design excellence can be drawn.
The design work of the firm does not have a “signature” look. Instead, ODG prefers to meet clients on their level to determine their unique characteristics and requirements and capture them in the design response. This requires talented design professionals who are secure enough in their skill sets to constantly be active in the search for alternative responses. This is why ODG projects all look different, they reflect the client, not the design firm.
ODG is also different from other firms in that our small project teams are multi-disciplinary:
with Architects and Interior Designers working together from the inside-out to develop innovative
responses to client needs so that spaces work. We don’t design a container and try and jam the
function in later.
ODG is also different from other firms in that we manage client resources as if they were our own. We do not model the current project off of the last project. We prepare detailed estimates based on time and material or quantity and unit costs for each element. A survey of all ODG projects for the past 10 years revealed that ODG projects are completed an average of 2% less than the original approved budget.
This is only possible because of our exceptional people, their creativity, professionalism and discipline.
